Member Information

All patrons will be required to show proof of completion of the Daily COVID-19 Screening Survey for the current day to gain access to the facilities. Patrons who do not clear the assessment or are showing symptoms will NOT be allowed to access the facility. By entering the Recreation Center, you acknowledge that you are not aware that you have signs and/or symptoms of COVID-19. 

UCSB Undergraduate Students
Do you live on campus, work on campus, or are you currently taking an in-person class on campus?
Yes: You should already be enrolled in the PnC
Daily COVID-19 Screening Survey and are getting Covid tested weekly. You will also need a negative COVID test within the past 7 days to receive a green badge.
No: Visit the Student Health page and follow the instructions. Take and pass the Daily COVID-19 Screening Survey that is emailed to you. You will also need a negative COVID test within the past 7 days to receive a green badge.

UCSB Graduate Students
Register for the daily Qualtrics Daily COVID-19 Screening Survey (Spanish and English versions available). Graduate students already enrolled in the campus COVID-19 Screening program do not have to re-enroll. Weekly COVID testing is recommended but not required.

UCSB Faculty/Staff

Update: Effective 8/3/21, face coverings are required of all individuals in shared indoor campus spaces. Individuals that would like to take extra precautions are welcome to wear face coverings in any setting.
Vaccinated individuals are not required to wear face coverings outdoors but must wear face coverings in shared indoor spaces.
Unvaccinated individuals are required to wear face coverings in all indoor campus spaces. Face coverings are not required in outdoor spaces as long as you maintain 6 feet of physical distance.

Physical distancing must be practiced and will be enforced, both indoor and outdoor. This means staying at least 6 feet (2 meters) apart from others while waiting in lines, exercising, and walking through the facilities. Follow all directional and facility signage and respect single exit/entrance points.

The Rec Cen closed its doors on March 16, 2020, at 7 pm due to COVID-19. With a reopening plan in place, the University has approved the Recreation Department to reopen some of our facilities starting Monday, April 12, 2021.

All patrons (non-student) who had an active membership during the closure were given the opportunity to request a refund for a prorated amount. Therefore, patrons who requested and received a refund are not eligible for a membership credit. Patrons who did not request a refund during the Rec Cen closure will be issued Rec Cen membership credit for the number of days that you had an active membership during the time of our closure. Membership credit will be applied at the time of our scheduled opening. Patrons who no longer wish to receive membership credit can request a refund until April 26, 2021. 

Patrons who qualify for membership credit will be notified through email stating the number of credit days you will receive and a new membership start & end date. Please note, patrons will not be able to request different start dates. If you have not received an email with details regarding your credit days or have questions regarding your membership please contact Member Services Coordinator, Diane Gutierrez, at dianegutierrez@ucsb.edu.

Rec Cen memberships can be purchased by coming into the Customer Service Center, open Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. We are offering 1-month/3-month/1-year Rec Cen memberships to purchase at regular rates. Payroll deduction is not available at this time.

  • UCSB Faculty/Staff, Spouse of UCSB student, Sponsored Member (Spouse of Faculty/Staff), and UCSB Retiree are eligible to purchase a membership.   
  • All patrons who had an active Rec Cen membership in 2020 are eligible to purchase a membership.  

UCSB Alumni & community who did not have an active Rec Cen membership in 2020 will be able to purchase Rec Cen memberships at a later date, stay tuned. 

Rec Cen Memberships purchased during this time will have a grace period of 1 week from the purchase date to request a refund. This grace period to our normal refund policy allows us to deliver choice and flexibility to our valued Rec Cen members. Once the 1 week grace period has surpassed our normal refund policies will go into effect. To request a refund contact the Member Services Coordinator at dianegutierrez@ucsb.edu or visit the Customer Service Center.

All payroll deduction memberships that were active during our closure have been canceled and fees will not resume once we reopen.

Returning to Recreation

Large Pool, Small Pool, and Diving Well: Open  |  Spa: Closed

The Large Pool and Small Pool are open for short course lap swimming only. 

The locker rooms in the MAC are open.

 

At this time, certification classes will be offered to internal Department of Recreation student staff, UCSB students, staff, and faculty. Classes offered include; Lifeguard review courses, Lifeguard certification courses, and CPRO for non-lifeguard student staff.

American Red Cross Classes include; Lifeguard, Lifeguard Review, Adult First Aid/CPR/AED, and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED.

We are not accepting event requests/facility rentals for off-campus community groups at this time.

MAC Locker rooms are open. Come to the Recreation Center Equipment Room or Customer Service Center to purchase a locker.
