The Athletic Training Room (ATR) provides injury evaluations, pain mitigation, treatment, and rehabilitation plans to any Sport Club athlete at UCSB to get them back to playing as soon as possible. Our goal is to help athletes recover and strengthen them to prevent future injuries. Even if your injury is non-sports related, like a bike accident while headed to class, we can help treat you!

If this is a medical emergency, call 911.

When to Come In

Refer to the main Athletic Training page for our hours of operation.

Check out our Instagram (@ucsb.atr) for timely updates on our hours and services!

Walk-In Hours

Our walk-in hours are the best time to visit for most of your athletic training needs.

Whether you’re dealing with a new injury or continuing rehabilitation for an ongoing issue, evaluations and treatments are available during this time.

Team Practice Prep Hours

During team practice prep hours, our staff provides rehabilitation services and athletic taping.

Please note that if you need a full injury evaluation, you may be asked to return during our designated walk-in hours to ensure we have adequate time for assessment.

Services Provided

All ATR staff are certified in first aid and can provide care to wounds through the use of antiseptic skin cleansers, antibiotic ointment, bandages, and saline spray.

We will analyze your injury and cooperate with our Certified Athletic Trainers to decide the best plan to get you started on your recovery process.

By creating a personal rehabilitation plan we will help you recover from your injury through strength and range of motion exercises, stretching, and by utilizing our modalities.

We use a variety of modalities to reduce pain, control inflammation, and support healing. Treatments may include electrical stimulation, ice, heat, ultrasound, stretching, and massage. These techniques help manage discomfort, improve mobility, and prepare the injured area so you can exercise safely and effectively.

Our Athletic Trainers can tape injury vulnerable areas such as an ankle or shoulder to provide stability and help protect it from further injury.

Ice baths can be made available to teams by request, contact the Athletic Trainers or the ATI primary assigned to your team to schedule a time for you and your teammates to use it.

We are responsible for Concussion Baseline Testing, which athletes need before they can participate in games.

Click here for more information.

All concussions must be reported to the ATR where we will begin the recovery process.

Medical goods are available for borrowing such as crutches and braces. Please ask our ATI staff for availability on these items if interested.

Our Athletic Training staff can facilitate appointments on campus or connect you to services needed beyond our scope as necessary.
