2020 marks the 39th year for the UCSB Summer Day Camp. Our camp provides a safe, fun and active environment in which children can develop new skills, self-esteem and friendships.
We pride ourselves on offering an action-packed, varied and exciting camp. Campers enjoy daily swimming at the Recreation Center, access to the UCSB gymnastics room as well as weekly visits to the Ropes Adventure Course.
Activities vary weekly and are designed to engage children of all ages and interests, including Arts & Crafts, Group Games, Gymnastics, Movies, Ropes, Swimming. For more information, see activity list.
Registration Information
If you register online, please return the Consent To Treat form on or before your child's first day in the program.
Camp is for boys and girls ages 5-14 and is divided into three age groups. The age groups shown below are approximate and could vary depending on the actual age ranges at camp during a specific week.
- Lower Camp — ages 5-6
- Inter Camp — ages 7-10
- Upper Camp — ages 11-14
Sessions run Monday–Friday with arrival time between 7:15–8:30am and departure time between 4:30–5:30pm. We do not offer pro-rated prices for partial weeks.
Swim Lessons must be purchased separately. Counselors are available to walk children to 4:30pm lessons only. Parents must pick-up 4:30pm lesson participants at the Rec Cen.

Summer Day Camp Staff
The UCSB Summer Day Camp is run by the Department of Recreation. The support of the Recreation Department enables the Summer Day Camp to offer your children a safe and fun camp environment. This support is reflected in the availability of gymnasia, playing fields, pools, classrooms and equipment as well as the hiring, training and education of qualified counselors.
Camp Director
Ray Robitaille will be back for his 39th summer as Director of the UCSB Summer Day Camp. His years of experience working with children and his leadership skills have enabled the Summer Day Camp to attain its current level of quality and popularity. Ray has been a teacher at Laguna Blanca School for 38 years and specializes in Movement Education which provides children with movement fundamentals, thereby enhancing coordination, self-esteem and enjoyment of physical activities.
Counselors & Specialists
Our general staff consists of head counselors, individual group counselors, support counselors and specialists. The head counselors are credentialed teachers and/or professionals with five or more years of camp experience. Individual and support counselors are credentialed teachers, college students and instructors from the local community. Our specialists are qualified instructors in the fields of swimming, arts & crafts, gymnastics, drama, kayaking, rock climbing and martial arts.

Jr Counselor Program
Junior Counselors (JCs) gain valuable training and experience by providing support to instructors and group leaders at camp. Jr. Counselors are supervised by instructors, group leaders, Camp Coordinators, and the Camp Director.
This is a volunteer position. Service may count towards community service/volunteer requirements. Community service paperwork must be submitted to the camp director no later than August 14, 2020.
Positions are available at the Summer Day Camp only. We do not allow Jr Counselors to work at the Surf & Kayak Camp.

Pre-Registration
$190 per week
Payment received 4 weeks or more before session begins Guarantee your spot in camp by paying for all of your sessions at once or you can follow the payment schedule and still receive the discounted price.
Regular Registration
$205 per week
Payment received at least 1 week before session begins
Late Registration
$220 per week
Payment received on or after the Tuesday before session begins.

Payments must be received by the above dates to qualify for promotional price. Postmarks will NOT be accepted. Price increases take effect online at midnight on dates indicated. In person payments must be made by 5pm on dates indicated. |
Family Discount
If you have more than one child between the ages of 5 and 14, you can save $15 per additional child when they attend the same session(s). This discount is valid for siblings only and does not apply to the first child. This discount is only valid when both children attend the full day at the Summer Day Camp. Discount CANNOT be used for Surf & Kayak Camp, Jr Lifeguards or other UCSB Sports Camps. For instance if one child is at the Summer Day Camp and the other is combining the Day Camp with Surf & Kayak Camp, there is no sibling discount allowed.
To receive the sibling discount rate you must sign your first child up at the full rate then sign additional children up in the corresponding "Sibling" course.
