Weekly Activity Schedule:

The Annual UCSB Summer Day Camp provides a fun, energetic, and active environment in which children can enhance the development of their physical and interpersonal skills!

We pride ourselves on offering 9 full weeks of exciting opportunities for your children to build relationships with their co-campers, use our incredible facilities, and engage in a day full of activities! Some of our favorites include pool time, ropes course, arts & crafts, and fun Fridays!

In addition, we host themed weeks where we provide our campers with additional educational opportunities to learn more about the Environment, Protecting Our Oceans, Cultures of the World, and so much more!

Registration Information

Please fill out this online Consent To Treat form on or before your child's first day in the program.

Camp is for all children ages 5-14 and is divided into four age groups. The age groups shown below are approximate and could vary depending on the age ranges at camp during a specific week.

  • Blue Crew — ages 5-6
  • Roadrunners — ages 7-8
  • Mapaches — ages 9-10
  • Gauchos — ages 11-14

Sessions run Monday–Friday from 8:15am - 4:45pm, with drop-off from 8:15 - 9am and pick-up from 4 - 4:45pm. We do not offer pro-rated prices for partial weeks.

Swim Lessons must be purchased separately. Counselors are available to walk children to 4:30pm lessons only. Parents must pick-up 4:30pm lesson participants at the Rec Cen. Swim Lessons run Monday-Thursday for two week sessions beginning June 26.

Extended Care

Extended care is available for purchase during registration, in which parents/guardians can receive an additional two hours of care. Drop off for extended care is from 7:15 - 8:15am, and pick up is from 4:45 - 5:45pm.

Get ready to challenge those brains! This week our campers will put on their lab coats as they explore the wonders of science and put their imaginations and creations to the test this week with some exciting science experiments! 

Youth Programs Staff

The UCSB Summer Day Camp is run by the Department of Recreation. All Camp staff are CPR & First Aid Certified. Camp staff include: Youth Programs staff,  the Youth Programs Student Manager, Head Counselors, Arts & Sports Specialists, Junior Counselors, and the Youth Programs Coordinator.

Counselors & Specialists

Our general staff consists of head counselors, individual group leaders, support counselors and specialists. Head Counselors are credentialed teachers and/or professionals with five or more years of camp experience. Individual and support counselors are credentialed teachers, college students and instructors from the local community. Our specialists are qualified instructors in the fields of swimming, arts & crafts, gymnastics, drama, kayaking, rock climbing and martial arts.

Jr Counselor Program

The Department of Recreation Junior Counselor Program provides children the opportunity to learn and develop valuable communication and leadership skills. The Junior Counselor Program is for children that are highly motivated and who can demonstrate the ability to take on the responsibilities of being a leader amongst their peers and the challenges that come with it. Junior Counselors will work under the direct supervision of the UCSB Summer Day Camp Including Camp Counselors, Head Counselors, and the Youth Programs Coordinator. At the time of enrollment, your child must either be an incoming Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in Highschool for Fall of 2023.

This is a volunteer position. Service may count towards community service/volunteer requirements. Community service paperwork must be submitted to the Youth Programs Coordinator no later than August 16, 2023.

The fee for participation in this program is  as follows:

  • $80 for up to 2 Sessions
  • $160 for up to 4 Sessions
  • $240 for up to 6 Sessions
  • $320 for up to 9 Sessions

Registration for this program includes a T-Shirt. In addition to the registration fee, students will be required to complete an online Bullying Prevention training prior to their first day.

Positions are available at the Summer & Spring Day Camp only. We do not allow Jr Counselors to work at the Surf & Kayak Camp.

Payment received 4 weeks or more before session begins. Guarantee your spot in camp by paying for all of your sessions at once or you can follow the payment schedule and still receive the discounted price.

Regular Registration

$290 per week

Last day to sign up for any session is the Friday (11:59AM) before the session begins. 

Extended Care

$50 per week

Extended care must be purchased at the time of registration. We do not offer pro-rated prices for partial weeks.

Payments must be received by the above dates to qualify for promotional price. Postmarks will NOT be accepted. Price increases take effect online at midnight on dates indicated. In person payments must be made by 5pm on dates indicated.

Family Discount

If you have more than one child between the ages of 5 and 14, you can save $15 per additional child when they attend the same session(s). This discount is valid for siblings only and does not apply to the first child. This discount is only valid when both children attend the full day at the Summer Day Camp. Discount CANNOT be used for Surf & Kayak Camp, Jr Lifeguards, the Summer Day camp and Surf & Kayak Camp Combo or other UCSB Sports Camps. For instance if one child is at the Summer Day Camp and the other is combining the Day Camp with Surf & Kayak Camp, there is no sibling discount allowed.

To receive the sibling discount rate you must sign your first child up at the full rate then sign additional children up in the corresponding "Sibling" course.
