The UCSB Sailing team is a student-run club with about 40 active members who practice and compete year-round. Currently, the UCSB Sailing team is one of the strongest college club sailing teams in the Pacific Coast Conference.

Any undergraduate student at UCSB is welcome to try out for the team. Practices are held throughout the year at the Santa Barbara Harbor in downtown Santa Barbara. Varsity practices are twice a week from 2:30-5:30 pm; JV team practices are Fridays from 2:30-5:30; Sailing Club practices (learn to sail) are Saturdays from Noon-3 pm.

We welcome any and all skill levels! Come check out the team!

Varsity Practices
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:30-5:30 pm at the Santa Barbara Harbor.

NOTE: Some sailing background is necessary to participate in Varsity practices.  (*Carpools are available - meet at the bus circle on campus at 2 pm and make it known you're trying to get to the sailing practice.  Several cars will stop by to pick people up.)

Junior Varsity Practice
Fridays, 2:30-5:30 pm at the Santa Barbara Harbor. NOTE: no sailing background is necessary to participate in JV practices. (*Carpools are available - meet at the bus circle on campus at 2 pm and make it known you're trying to get to the sailing practice.  Several cars will stop by to pick people up.)

For students who have never sailed before, it is highly recommended that you enroll in sailing courses through the UCSB Department of Recreation's Gaucho R.E.C. Program. This is not required to participate in the team and we encourage any interested student to come to a team meeting or practice to learn more.
